What happened to Sean Day, wasn't he suppose to be a big prospect in 2015?

Its hard to judge the 2018 draft right now, but it doesnt seem like that 2017 draft is something to tank for, 2018 will be a decent one.

Did you guys hear Tyler Benson is out for the rest of the season? I feel really bad for him because his draft year has been derailed by injuries. I hope he doesn't have to deal with as much injuries at the NHL level.

He was granted exceptional status, but really didn't deserve it. At best he's a mid 2nd round pick, but could definitely fall to the 3rd. He was really just a case of a kid who developed physically much earlier than his peers. At this level of development he isn't anything special.

It seems like the 2016 draft won't be as deep as the 2015 draft, but Auston Matthews has the potential to be another great player, worth tanking for. Nolan Patrick has the potential to be a point per game type player it looks like, so he would be a good fit in Toronto or Buffalo.

He decided to base his game off of a bad Dion Phaneuf. He's slow and he can hit and he has a hard shot. And that's about it. I can't think of a better comparison, but I guess Phaneuf works. Day is slow, he can hit, and he has a very hard shot. He COULD very well be a top-4 defenseman, but he has not lived up to the exceptional player status.

Does anyone else think Jaxon Nelson is underrated for the 2018 draft? He is 6'3 and weighs 192 pounds. Playing in the USHS, he has 70 goals and 113 points in 25 games, yet he is listed here projected to go around 21st. I know the USHS isn't the strongest league, but jeez, this kid seems better than late 1st with his size and all.

2018 is just that deep. He is a great player, but there are players better than him as of today. Guys like Levin and Veleno are already playing in the CHL, Zadina is playing in the mens league. A lot can change, but tons and tons of talent in that draft. Nelson was drafted by Tri-City in the WHL, I would love to see him there next year.

Where do you think Swedish Centre Isac Lundestrom would go in 2018? He is supposed to be a really good prospect.

Liljegren is battling a spot for 1# in 2017 so I'd say he would be in #2. Joe Veleno and Svechnikov will battle for 1st in 2018.

Unless something changes, Veleno probably won't even go in the first round. The only reason he got exceptional status is because he was going to go to the USHL and the CHL wanted to keep him. He's probably the least exceptional of the players who received exceptional status. Svechnikov and Denisenko are the frontrunners right now.

Joe Veleno will go in the 1st round of the 2018 draft but I doubt he will be top 3 maybe top 5

No Nylander is not going 4th. Dubois, Chychrun, Tkachuk and Juolevi are all higher than him on most draft rankings.
