What's your favourite movie soundtrack of all time? I'm more talking an orchestral soundtrack (like Hans Zimmer or Howard Shore) instead of the soundtrack for say, Suicide Squad, that has songs from pop-stars.

My favourites have to be the Lord of the Rings soundtrack (done by Howard Shore), and the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack (Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt).

Lord of the Rings easily. I can't even think of a soundtrack that comes close to matching Shore's masterpiece.

I was expecting some Randy Newman jokes/trolling in this thread, but I guess the average troll is a tad on the young side for Randy Newman in general.

It's a bit hard to argue with the LotR soundtrack being among the top, though there are a great deal of others that are fantastic, as well. Sweeny Todd, though far superior on stage than in the film version, has quite the impressive OST, Nightmare Before Christmas is, of course, a classic as well. Granted, most of the absolute top films out there did go for the "popular music" approach to their OSTs, making it difficult to select the out and out best.

This is difficult, as an avid music fan I find it hard to decide.
The Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack was great. Same with the Ghostbusters soundtrack.

But my favourite(s) would be the [S-U-I-C-I-D-E] Squad soundtrack and Furious 7 soundtrack. They're THE SHIT.

All the scores from Star Wars Episode 4 are simply indescribable with how good they are. I literally love them so much that if you play a track I can easily tell you about the scene they're from. Here are some of my favorites:

Also the one thing Phantom Menace did right was produce this gem of a song:

Finally one soundtrack that I love that isn't from Star Wars is this:

All in all John Williams is the GOAT.
