Well it was a wacky season. Wiggins kept us going through the season while everyone fell to injuries. Caboclo had a better season and was amazing during the playoffs. But guys like Zimmerman, Parr and Sanders did not fare well this season. Half the team is about to hit free agency so hopefully we can resign at least haf of those guys. DeRozan's $7.75 mil off the table will help.

The owner is yet again HAPPY. Loves the winning atmosphere and the profit that we're currently making.

Off to the lottery and the draft. I think we've got our picks this year. It looks like a deep draft.

    1. Atlanta Hawks 22-60
    2. Los Angeles Clippers 25-57

    2024 NBA Draft
With the 29th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors are proud to select Kyle Villarreal!

    ...

With the 59th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors are proud to select Byron Booth! A 20 year old FC who is 36 Overall with 36 Potential.

    Draft results below...

It was a decision between Villarreal and Lance. Villarreal hand ball handling skill and was younger and basically had more time to improve. I'll be honest, Brooklyn had a good pick. The 2nd rounder... will probably be released.

Back at the resigning stage and this one's gonna be influential. We have $0.05 mil in cap space lol. Half these guys are bound to leave...
Re-signed: (Player attributes shown before simming)
    Charles Parr $17.25 mil thru 2028 - G, 27 y/o, 69 OVR 72 POT
    Kenneth Rees $6.10 mil thru 2028 - SG, 24 y/o, 63 OVR 67 POT

    Released:
Brett Rickard - Asking price $12.25 mil thru 2029
Samuel John - Asking price $8.85 mil thru 2027
Johnathan Smith - Asking price $5.50 mil thru 2026
Brice Johnson - Asking price $1.71 mil thru 2027
David Bennett - Asking price $1.70 mil thru 2027

I've decided to release 2024 2nd rounder Byron Booth. So yea we let go of a bunch. Our roster is a bit weak as of now. We just can't afford any of these guys. I'm looking to bring back Bennett and Johnson at a lower price.

We've got 7 open roster spots... we need to sign at least 3 guys and Centers are our main need. Guards and Forwards would be good as well.

It's a pretty deep free agency list this year so I had to sim a bit to get the high players that we can't afford out of the way. So their are guys who we could nab. Polston would be great as well as Desmond Johnson. We could also easily bring back B. Johnson and Bennett.

Signings: (After sim with updates attributes)
    Larry Honey $0.50 mil over 2 years (2026) - GF, 28 y/o, 55 OVR 55 POT
    Franklin Cushman $0.50 mil over 2 years (2026) - PF, 25 y/o, 52 OVR 52 POT
    Christopher Ford $0.50 mil over 2 years (2026) - PG, 24 y/o, 53 OVR 53 POT

We couldn't really get anyone. Desmond Johnson is still out their and we really need him. Jonas Valanciunas might be a good signing, just to retire him as a Raptor.

    Current Roster

Oh my god everyone dropped. Caboclo is a blessing. Pissed off at Parr as he received a big pay day and Sanders 'cause he's supposed to grow at a young age. Our bench is good enough. Definitely a weaker team than last year. Trading Zimmerman might be good. We NEED Johnson. JV's gonna come. Our Center's suck. And yes, $84.80 million and it'll only get worse next year as Sanders will be asking for a big contract. I think we can maintain two years of money out the door but we've got to regroup once 2027 comes around.

So we're 2nd in power rankings behind Brooklyn.
    Zimmerman might be tradeable.
And we definitely go after JV and Johnson.
Let's see how this season plays out!

    SIGNING!
    Jonas Valanciunas $0.50 mil over 1 year (2025) - C, 33 y/o, 47 Overall 47 Potential

Yea he's 47 but he can produce greatly. We bring back a hopeful future HoFer. Plus we do need help in the Center position. JV will be great on the bench. He's been slotted in between Honey and Cushman.

    INJURY UPDATE
Going into game #5 vs the Boston Celtics...

Jonas Valanciunas out 7 games with patellar tendinitis

In a blowout win vs the Atlanta Hawks, JV left only playing 11.3 minutes. Which is actually the time he gets nowadays. He had 3 points, 2 boards and an assist. This sucks as he was decent. Not a big blow but hopefully we don't start losing.

    EDIT:
    @ BOS W 102-85

Strong effort vs the defending NBA Champs. Wiggins led with 23 and the bench really came through.

    INJURY UPDATE
Going into game #7 vs the Phoenix Suns...

Jonas Valanciunas out 5 games with patellar tendinitis
Franklin Cushman out 3 games with patellar tendinitis

Yea lol. Cushman was injured in a game vs the Indiana Pacers. He played 14.3 minutes however which well over what he's getting this year. 6 points and 5 rebounds and then he was done. Kinda sucks, he's actually been good this year.

    EDIT:

    @ PHX L 71-84

Our offense dried up for some reason. Caboclo led with 17 and Wiggins, Zimmerman helped out with the rebounds.

Well, it's time for our longest homestand of the year. 6 games this time. We've been in a bit of a funk so hopefully this helps us out. We've got some good teams coming up so this should give us a challenge.
    We got...

Chicago 5-2 T-1st in Eastern Conference
Houston 3-3 T-8th in Western Conference
Indiana 5-2 T-1st in Eastern Conference
Portland 4-2 T-4th in Western Conference
Atlanta 2-5 T-12th in Eastern Conference
New Orleans 4-3 T-6th in Western Conference
    Coming into town.

    1ST GAME
vs Chicago Bulls 5-2 T-1st in East
This team is just great at drafting and building up prospects. Michael Wright now a 69, Ronnie Johnson at a 67. 2024 draftee Jonathan Freeman jumped 20 to a 53 overall and has earned a starting spot. John Knox at 62. Alex Len has been pushed into a starting spot at a 53. Their bench is crap tho.

    Injuries

Chicago Bulls - Wilson Britt out 7 games with patellar tendinitis, Jason Hurd out 2 games with a strained groin
Toronto Raptors - Jonas Valanciunas out 4 games with patellar tendinitis, Franklin Cushman out 2 games with patellar tendinitis

Honestly crying right now. Another loss where the starting 5 looked great. Sanders had a double-double and Wiggins led with 24 points. However defense wasn't there and Chicago had a huge game from their superstar individuals.
Knox led with 23 points. Ronnie Johnson poured in 20 while dishing out 13 for the double-double. MICHAEL WRIGHT WITH 19 REBOUNDS. And the rook Freeman finished with 17 points.

    And it results in a...

    vs CHI L 96-104

    2ND GAME
vs Houston Rockets 4-3 T-4th in West
Houston looks like a pretty nice team this year. A 74 overall Sergio Peltier. 73 overall Kenneth Hill. A 66 overall Stanley Johnson. THEN a 63 overall youngster in Erik Wheeler. They've got some nice youngsters in the system all over the bench. This team looks set.

    Injuries

    Houston Rockets - None
Toronto Raptors - Jonas Valanciunas out 3 games with patellar tendinitis, Frank Cushman out with patellar tendinitis

God damn that 1st quarter. Houston outscored us 13 - 33 while we outscored them in every other quarter.
Caboclo led with 25 points and Wiggins got a double-double with 14-11-5. HONEY dropped 17 and Rees went off for 15.
Peltier dropped 30 on us. Hill went off for 27 :(
And the reason why our bench had to contribute a lot was because Gregory Sanders was injured. He's gonna miss a bit over a week. Same patellar tendinitis injury.

    And it results in a...

    vs HOU L 93-100

    3RD GAME
vs Indiana Pacers 7-2 T-1st in East
God damn another #1 team. The Pacers tbh look like a trash team but somehow their 7-2. A 68 Rodney Thigpen and a 66 Michael Cota. Other than that, a pretty trash starting 5. Their bench has three yougnsters who look like future starters. It looks like Indiana's trying to go slow and they are growing very well.
We honestly should be able to win this. We're COLD.

    Injuries

Indiana Pacers - Andrew Merrill out 2 games with patellar tendinitis
Toronto Raptors - Gregory Sanders out 8 games with patellar tendinitis, Jonas Valanciunas out 2 games with patellar tendinitis

BIG. GAME. FROM. THE. BACKCOURT. FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY. Caboclo wtih 31 points and 11 rebounds. Wiggins backs him up with 30 points. Parr went off for 19. Big Z grabbed 10 boards.
It has been SUCH a long time since I've seen all of the starting 5 work. This is BEAUTIFUL.
Thigpen led with 26. Cota had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double for Indiana.

WE BREAK OUR 4 GAME SKID.

    And it results in a...

    vs IND W 112-98

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It hasn't been an easy one but we've faced some of the best. Good effort thos from this team and hopefully we build off our win vs Indiana.

It's been Wiggins and Caboclo that have been carrying this team.
    A. Wiggins
    1st game - 24 PTS, 7 REB
    2nd game - 14 PTS, 11 REB, 5 AST
    3rd game - 30 PTS, 5 REB

    B. Caboclo
    1st game - 13 PTS, 7 REB
    2nd game - 25 PTS, 5 REB, 4 STL
    3rd game - 31 PTS, 11 REB

Hopefully after that big win, we can get ourselves back on track.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    4TH GAME
vs Portland Trail Blazers 5-4 T-5th in West
The Trail Blazers made a huge splash in FA as they signed reigning MVP Jabari Parker. They have him as a 74 overall BEAST. They also have one of the best youngsters in Gregory Green. Bryan Lloyd is also another nice youngster. Rick Goodrum, yet another youngster jumped up 19 to a 56 overall. Their bench however is weak but their core looks bright for the future.

    Injuries

    Portland Trail Blazers - None
Toronto Raptors - Gregory Sanders out 7 games with patellar tendinitis, Jonas Valanciunas out with patellar tendinitis.

CABOCLO. 27 points. The top 6 was amazing this game. Bench also contributed and the team played very well.
Parker with 23 points and 9 rebounds for Portland. Gregory Green with 10 rebounds. DONALD DODD went off for 25 points in 18.6 minutes off the bench.

    And it results in a...

    vs POR W 107-99

    5TH GAME
vs Atlanta Hawks 3-7 13th in East
We faced these guys early on and crushed them by 29 points. A weak rebuilding team here. Avent and Stauskas at 63 and 60 as their veterans... and A 54 Saric. They've got 23 year old Adam Patrick who they signed off FA at a 67 overall. A couple youngsters who are still improving and a weak bench.
    Should be an easy W.

    Injuries

    Atlanta Hawks - None
Toronto Raptors - Gregory Sanders out 6 games with patellar tendinitis

A HUGE 1st and 3rd quarters with Wiggins, Parr and Caboclo going off. Wiggins with a team-high 24. Parr with 22 and Caboclo with 20. Nice to see the rookie Kyle Villarreal getting in with 10 points in 12.9 minutes. Strong game from the top 5 tho.
    Stauskas had 18 for Atlanta.

    And it results in a...

    vs ATL W 106-85

    6TH GAME
vs New Orleans Pelicans 6-5 7th in West
A team that had an amazing 2024 season but has had to backtrack. The Pelicans look weak this year. Two 60 overalls in Karl Towns and Brett Rickard. A 55 overall Cliff Alexander. A 45 overall William Short. A youngster in Joe Cantrell who has fallen back to a 63. Their bench doesn't look that promising other than 58 overall Kevin Cornish.
This team took a big blow in the summer lmao.

    Injuries

    New Orleans Pelicans - None
Toronto Raptors - Gregory Sanders out 5 games with patellar tendinitis

Cushman with another great game pouring in 22 points. Wiggins and Zimmerman each with 17 points.
However Joe Cantrell replied with 22 of his own. Cornish grabbed 13 boards. The bench came out with 42 points.
Parr also got injured... 2 games tho.

    And it results in a...

    vs NOP L 88-101
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tough road trip. We went 3-3 and we've been plagued with injuries. Hopefully we can turn this around.

1/4th of the season has passed and we've been different this year... 12-8 to start the season but we've been starting to warm up as we're 8-2 in our last 10. Injuries yet again hurting this team with Valanciunas and Sanders being sidelined for half the games.
Our profit on the upside has been going up.

Tbh, Zimmerman has been trash as of now. And I've been looking at some trades. The Clippers are offering me a 54 overall Levert and New York is offering me a 61 overall Kawhi Leonard. Both guys' contracts end this year which is a benefit to us. It'd help speed things up here. But lets see if Zimmerman continues to falter.

In other news, Desmond Johnson is still on FA. But he wants well over $2 mil...

    UPDATE
We went on an 11 game winning streak to rise to the the top of the pack. However after a game where went to OT and got the win, the Denver Nuggets would sink us the next game. We almost made a comeback in the 4th quarter but fell short as Denver got the 102-98 win.

    TRADE ALERT!
    TORONTO RAPTORS:
    Kawhi Leonard - GF, 34 y/o, 61 Overall 61 Potential, $12.70 mil thru 2026

    NEW YORK KNICKS:
    Gerald Zimmerman - FC, 57 Overall 57 Potential, $15.95 mil thru 2026
2025 2nd round pick (MEM) via TOR
    2026 2nd round pick (TOR)

We ROBBBBBBBED THEM. Originally, the trade was supposed to be a straight up player for player trade but c'mon... that would've been ILLEEEGGALLLLL. We just traded for a better player who is cheaper while getting rid of a guy who's overpriced.
We saved like a bit over $3 mil right here. Great trade but this really quickens up the future. We might have to go into a rebuild much quicker than expected. Leonard will take Zimmerman's spot in the top 5.

Nevertheless, we want to congratulate Gerald Zimmerman's career with the Raptors. He was a 3 time Champion here and played 380 games with us. A fantastic player and a fantastic career so far, we wish you the best in New York Big Z.

So the hockey version came out (and a lot of assignments) and it got me a little sidetracked.

But we're back at it and it looks like we've left off at the halfway point of the season. The team has picked it up from its mediocre start and we sit third in the eastern conference with a 28-13 record. We went on that huge 11 game winning streak which really helped us a lot. We are 3-3 ever since Kawhi Leonard was brought in and the Gerald Zimmerman's New York Knicks are 6-1 ever since the trade. It looks like we made a trade with a powerhouse eastern conference team so... my bad

Our profit also looks pretty good at around $10 mil.
Desmond Johnson is also close to lowering his price down to $0.50 mil. It'll still take some time.

Honestly very impressed with Bruno Caboclo this season. He's having a career high in rebounds (7.3) and points (20.5). Hopefully he can keep that up. Kawhi Leonard is also averaging more points and assists here playing lower minutes than in New York. Pretty nice trade their.

As for Desmond Johnson, he wants $1.25 mil...
Its gonna take about 12, 15 games but hopefully we can get him.

49 points in a quarter, lmao.

And yes, we are on a 10 game winning streak.

    SIGNING!
    Desmond Johnson $0.50 mil over 1 year (2026) - G, 24 y/o, 60 Overall 60 Potential

I didn't want to really mess with the lineups when we're this hot but there's a solid asset sitting on FA waiting to be picked up. Desmond Johnson averaged 7.2 assists last season with the Dallas Mavericks. That'd be 2nd place this year in the league in assists. Plus this guy is so young and so good. He's on a one year deal but we might be looking to lock this guy up for a lot longer than that.

So I've decided to start him off as the 2nd player off the bench in between Rees and Honey. But I want to gradually move him up into the starting 5.

    UPDATE
So our winning streak was snapped at 14. We beat some of the best and worst teams during that run. We also made a crazy comeback vs a team. So we faced Philly and they beat us by 11. 102-91 the final score. Caboclo was kept to 4 points and that was it.

The winning streak helped us and we look pretty good heading into the final quarter of the season. Our record is currently 45-16, good enough for 1st in the league. Caboclo is still having an amazing season and the addition of Des,ond Johnson has looked good so far.

One thing that I've seen is that we've been beating the best teams out there such as Boston and Brooklyn which is good.

Our biggest road trip is coming up next. Keeping healthy will be important to have another 60 win season but we're in a great spot right now.

    An update here.
I was about to continue this a couple weeks ago until the game bugged and changed all the players to this...

However I can probably edit and rename all the real-life players and the important computer ones. But'll take some time.

    UPDATE
Well some sad news. I had to get my laptop with all my files such as this one debugged. And during the process pretty much everything got deleted. I'm not really down about it, just disappointed. But it was already leaking through, with the constant long-term breaks and "undefined-undefined" errors that this was better off ended. We did great however. This was probably my best Zen GM, I've ever done. It's also 9th search result on Google when you type in "hockey zen gm" for some reason. 23 pages, 11 and 1/2 seasons, 7 Championships and a bunch of individual awards. A great core and a good run. We really met the goals we had and we hit the potential we possessed.

"Maple's Toronto Raptors Basketball Zen GM" has officially come to a close. I might run another one depending on how busy I get. And I already know what team I'd do.

I'll post a final GM recap later on to fully close this thing up.
