Don't wanna dwell much upon the regular season review. The :flo finished on top of the Atlantic for the 2nd straight year while :mon made an inconsistent comeback back into the postseason. The :nyr and :nyi surprised finishing 1 and 2 in the Metro leaving :pit and :wsh right behind them. :dal signed Bishop to a 1 year and it turned the whole team around, good enough to win the Presidents Trophy. The :sjs and :los fought all season with the Sharks just edging them. :van was a surprise as Jim Benning's retooling was a success. :det sees its 25 year playoff count broken despite finishing with a winning record. The :tml would end up somehow finishing the season with zero overtime losses (39-43-0). And at the basement, the :col pull off a late cold streak and drop past the :cal to win the Patrick/Hischier sweepstakes.

    Calder Trophy likely's
    1. :tml Auston Matthews (C) 79 GP 23.2 MIN, 62 Pts, 29 G, 33 A, -1
    2. :win Patrik Laine (RW) 82 GP 21.7 MIN, 55 Pts, 22 G, 33 A, -13
    3. :arz Dylan Strome (C) 78 GP 25.3 MIN, 46 Pts, 18 G, 28 A, -7
    4. :tml William Nylander (RW) 82 GP 21.5 MIN, 46 Pts, 24 G, 22 A, -1
    5. :dal Devin Shore (C) 82 GP 16.9 MIN, 45 Pts, 21 G, 24 A, -3
    6. :tml Nikita Zaitsev (RD) 74 GP 19.6 MIN, 25 Pts, 10 G, 15 A, -9, 113 Blks, 76 Hits
    7. :col J.T. Compher (RW) 82 GP 19.0 MIN, 43 Pts, 21 G, 22 A, -34
    8. :arz Jakob Chychrun (RD) 71 GP 22.7 MIN, 22 Pts, 5 G, 17 A, -11, 124 Blks, 82 Hits
    9. :tml Mitch Marner (RW) 80 GP 15.7 MIN, 38 Pts, 24 G, 14 A, -17
    10. :nj Pavel Zacha (C) 78 GP 15.4 MIN, 35 Pts, 14 G, 21 A, -6

Now these final Calder projections might not be perfect but are generally correct. A guy like Marner could definitely be higher with those 24 goals. But, Matthews will most likely win it.

I'll list the awards winners for the ones we can do.
    Presidents' Trophy - :dal 53-23-6 (112 pts)
Art Ross Trophy - Joe Thornton :sjs 70/41/111
William M. Jennings Trophy - Tuukka Rask, Malcolm Subban :bos 195 GA
Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy - Joe Thornton :sjs 70 G

Joe Thornton should have been brought down a lot. Sucks that his scoring got over instead of his passing. He tends to go for crap in free agency so it should be back to normal. Ovi had 32 goals in 60 games so he's still the leagues best.

Now for the draft. Since the lottery system is yet to be fabricated into this game, there'll be no lottery. The :col are drafting 1st overall followed by :cal and :buf. So we can pretty much list the ordering of teams at this point. (Not sure on a couple of teams that are tied in points tbh). The playoffs don't even change the ordering.
As well as the prospect ranking.

Now :ana's 1st rounder just went to the :dal due to Anaheim making the Western Conference Finals in real life. Realistically, I should give Dallas the pick. But due to Anaheim doing terrible compared to real life and :dal being the best team in this simulation in year 1, I'll keep the :ana 1st round pick with Anaheim.

Not gonna talk about the playoffs in this post but...

Instead of going in chronological order with all eight game 1's being played before anything else, I'm just going to take it series by series.
Since round 1 features eight series, I'll have to break the post into two (East/West) due to length of the post.

    Round 1
    East

    (1) :flo vs :wsh (4)
The Panthers and Caps face each other for the first time in the playoffs.
    Game 1 @ :flo
    :wsh 0 :flo 8 Final
    WSH:
FLA: Jagr (2), Barkov (2), Huberdeau (2), Yandle, Smith
    Series: :flo 1-0 :wsh

    :wsh 1 :flo 4 Final
    WSH: Backstrom
    FLA: Yandle, Barkov, Huberdeau, Trochek
    Series: :flo 2-0 :wsh

    Game 3 @ :wsh
:flo 5 :wsh 6 Final OT
    FLA: Jagr (Hatty), Barkov, Trochek
WSH: Backstrom (2), Williams (2), Ovechkin, Shattenkirk

    Series: :flo 2-1 :wsh

    Game 4 @ :wsh
:flo 4 :wsh 5 Final OT
    FLA: Jokinen, Trochek, Huberdeau, Vanek
    WSH: Johansson, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Oshie
    Series: :flo 2-2 :wsh

    Game 5 @ :flo
:wsh 2 :flo 3 Final OT
    WSH: Kuznetsov, Carlson
    FLA: Yandle, Demers, Huberdeau
    Series: :flo 3-2 :wsh

    Game 6 @ :wsh
    :flo 0 :wsh 3 Final
    FLA:
    WSH: Ovechkin (2), Carlson
    Series: :flo 3-3 :wsh

With Ovi scoring a clutch pair of goals, the series goes to a game 7 in the BB&T Center...
    Game 7 @ :flo
    :wsh 2 :flo 1 Final 2OT
    WSH: Backstrom, Shattenkirk
    FLA: Huberdeau
A THRILLER of a series comes to an end as the Washington Capitals stave off elimination to come to Florida and edge them in a double OT showdown. The Caps will move on to either Boston or Tampa Bay.
    :wsh defeat :flo in 7.
    Series Leaders - J. Jagr 10 pts (5G/5A), J. Huberdeau 9 pts (6G/3A), N. Backstrom 9 pts (4G/5A)

    (1) :nyr vs :mon (4)
The Rangers and Canadiens face each other for the 17th time in the NHL playoffs.

NYR: McDonagh (Hatty), Kreider (2), Stepan, Klein, Zuccarello, Miller, Hayes, Lindberg
Injury - :mon Al Montoya out till Game 7 (sprained calf)
Apparently Montreal did not dress a backup goalie and Gallagher had to play net.
    Series: :nyr 3-2 :mon

    Game 6 @ :mon
    :nyr 10 :mon 2 Final
NYR: Stepan (Hatty), Kreider (Hatty), McDonagh, Zuccarello, Miller, Hayes
    MTL: Plekanec, Gallagher
Radulov in net for that one.
A weird series but the Rangers take it in 6 just like they did in 2014 and move on to face either NY Islanders or Pittsburgh.
    :nyr defeat :mon 4-2.
    Series Leaders - C. Kreider 15 pts (6G/9A), M. Zuccarello 11 pts (3G/8A), D. Stepan (4G/4A)

There we have it, round 2 is over with some stunners. Washington taking out Tampa Bay with ease. The Pens sweeping the Metro division champs. Minnesota actually beating Chicago and Vancouver somehow taking out the powerhouse Sharks in 5. This sets up a pretty good Conference Finals. :min vs :van should be interesting in their first ever playoff series. And the inevitable :pit vs :wsh yet again this time in the Eastern Conference Finals to ramp things up.
