Following their 3 game win streak against Ottawa, Colorado, and today versus St. Louis, the Sabres are currently 1 point behind Toronto for the final wild card spot in the East. The Sabres recent success is due to the offensive barrage that we've seen from players like Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Kyle Okposo, and especially Evander Kane, who is the hottest scorer in the league since December. To compliment the offense, the defense has tightened up, and though being less than stellar, it has been good enough to keep the Sabres competitive. And to top it all off, Robin Lehner has established himself as a very capable starting goaltender. He has been one of the hardest working players and I'm glad he's finally showing what Murray expected of him when he traded for him from Ottawa. I am aware that the Sabres don't have as many games in hand as Toronto and Florida, but if Buffalo continues to play the way they have been the past week and a half, they can easily find themselves in playoff contention.
